The Lagoon Pond Association invites the public to join this exciting and beautiful evening, which honors Lagoon Pond, by bringing lights to the beaches, docks, and boats around the Lagoon and illuminating them at 9 p.m. People who live on Lagoon Pond are asked to light up their homes as well.
Once again, this year’s “Light Up the Lagoon!”, which lasts about 30 minutes, will be highlighted by an illuminated Parade of Boats that will travel the length of the Lagoon. (Anyone who would like to participate in the Parade of Boats is asked to text or call Doug Reece at 508-335-2564 to reserve a space.)
Many people extend the festivities by inviting friends and family for dinner or dessert earlier in the evening and then proceeding together with their lights to viewing points along the Lagoon so they are ready to Light Up at 9.
“We want to share the beauty of the Lagoon with everyone and highlight the importance of preserving its waters and the marine life and recreational opportunities it provides for the entire island,” said Sherry Countryman, LPA president.
